Spring Forward Hoppy Wheat

Brewed: 03/12/2017   Kegged: 04/01/2017

In March of 2017, a new home brew shop opened up about half way between where I work and home.

Driving home one day, I decided to stop in and check it out. At first I had not planned to buy anything, but as I was looking around, I decided to go ahead and put together a quick recipe and help support a local business.

It just so happened that this impulse purchase occurred the weekend before Daylight Savings began. Since I almost always brew on Sunday, the beer would be made the day that the clocks get set ahead.

I thought "Spring Forward" made for a good name considering the timing.

The malts and yeast I got basically matched Summer Lovin' American Wheat.

I grabbed Columbus hops, which were also used in Summer Lovin', but then Denali Hops caught my eye.

All of a sudden, I created a new beer recipe. It was more of a pale ale than a traditional American Wheat.

For more information on this beer, see Sheppy's Blog: Spring Forward.

Think the main fermentation is almost done. I'll let it finish up for about another week before I keg it. 70 degrees

Kegged my Spring Forward Hoppy Wheat #HomeBrew. 1.012 FG makes it a 4.2% abv beer. Refreshing. Tropical hop flavor. Mango. Pineapple. Orange. Nicely balanced. Delicious.

Been drinking. Nice refreshing pale-ale type beer. Great hop flavor and aroma without being overpowering or bitter. Mango. Pineapple. Tropical fruit. Delicious.
